I've been dreaming about this place for so long it's hard to believe I'm finally here.
When I realized four years ago that I wanted to go to culinary school to become a pastry chef, I immediately put the Culinary Institute of America at the top of my list. But as I researched other schools and figured out what I wanted from my education, the Culinary Institute of America became my list. None of the other schools seemed to measure up. (Ha ha ha, get it? Measure? Pastry school? I'm so funny.) So when it came time for me to apply, the only application I sent out went to the CIA campus in Napa Valley. Thank goodness I got accepted, since I had placed all of my eggs in one basket (Eggs! Pastries! The puns just keep coming).
Now, after what seems like a lifetime of waiting, I've moved into my dorm, received my chef uniforms, and sat through the endless orientation meetings. Tomorrow we'll be meeting our instructors for the first time. Let the games begin.
